Cameron Heyward To Have Surgery, Likely Headed To Injured Reserve
one year ago

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that defensive end Cameron Heyward (groin) will undergo surgery on the groin injury he suffered in the Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday and is likely headed to Injured Reserve with a chance to return this year. Heyward could miss up to eight weeks, which is really bad news for Pittsburgh's pass-rushing unit. The Steelers still have one of the best defenders in the game in T.J. Watt, the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year, but losing Heyward for an extended amount of time is significant. The 34-year-old is a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro who has 78.5 career sacks in his 13 years with the Steelers.
