Buccaneers Hire Liam Coen As Offensive Coordinator
10 months ago

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to hire Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen as their new offensive coordinator, according to sources informed of the situation. Coen has gone back and forth between Kentucky and the Los Angeles Rams the last several seasons. He spent three years with Sean McVay in LA from 2018-20 before going to Kentucky in 2021. Coen then returned to LA as their offensive coordinator in 2022 before going back to Kentucky as the offensive coordinator and QBs coach in 2023. Coen and Bucs QB Baker Mayfield spent five games together with the Rams in 2022, so they have some familiarity. The Bucs' hiring of Coen should ensure that Mayfield, who will be a free agent in March, will return to Tampa to run it back in 2024 after leading the team to the postseason in his first year with the club in 2023.
