Broncos To Bench Russell Wilson For Final Two Games
11 months ago

The Denver Broncos will bench quarterback Russell Wilson for the final two games of the regular season, thus preserving their financial flexibility for the offseason, according to sources. Jarrett Stidham will now take over Denver's offense in Weeks 17 and 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders. Wilson already has $39 million guaranteed in 2024, but he has an additional $37 million that would become guaranteed if he can't pass a physical by early March. Heading into Week 17, Wilson is the NFL's seventh-rated passer with 26 touchdowns and only eight interceptions. The 35-year-old was much better in 2023 than he was in his first year in Denver in 2022 and will finish his second year with the Broncos as a top-10 fantasy QB. Although Wilson was much better this year with head coach Sean Payton running the offense and avoided costly turnovers, he still had only two games with 300-plus passing yards.
