Broncos Expected To Hire Pete Carmichael

The Denver Broncos and head coach Sean Payton are expected to hire former New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael to an unspecified role on the offensive staff alongside offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, another former Saints coach. Carmichael was fired by the Saints after the 2023 season following 15 years as their offensive coordinator. The 52-year-old spent four years as an offensive assistant with the Los Angeles Chargers before joining the Saints. He was promoted to offensive coordinator with the Saints in 2009 and helped the team win Super Bowl XLIV. Payton and Carmichael had some of the most productive offenses in NFL history with Drew Brees as their QB, but with Russell Wilson likely out the door this spring, they'll first need to address the QB position before thinking of contending in 2024.
