Broncos Defense A Top-10 Unit Against Raiders
one year ago

The Denver Broncos defense under new coordinator Vance Joseph has a chance to be pretty strong in 2023, led by former first-round cornerback Patrick Surtain II. The Broncos figure to stick him on Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro receiver Davante Adams in Week 1 to kick off the 2023 regular season. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo shouldn't really threaten Denver's secondary deep down the field, but they'll need to slow down last year's leading rusher, Josh Jacobs, if they're going to be successful to open the year. Working in the Denver D's favor is the fact that Jacobs could very well be rusty after sitting out all offseason and the preseason while angling for a long-term contract extension. The Broncos defense finished seventh in the NFL in yards allowed per game, 12th in passing yards allowed per game and 10th in rushing yards allowed per game in 2022.
