Brian Hoyer Holds On For The Win
one year ago

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Brian Hoyer entered the game in the second half of the Week 6 win against the New England Patriots. Hoyer completed six passes on 10 attempts for 102 yards after Raiders starter Jimmy Garoppolo exited the game with a back injury. The veteran quarterback did not make any big mistakes and could hold onto the win for the Raiders. Hoyer also completed a big pass to Tre Tucker for 48 yards. It remains to be seen how severe Garoppolo's back injury is, but Hoyer will be a candidate to start in Week 7 if Garoppolo is forced to miss time. When Garoppolo was ruled out with a concussion in Week 4, rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell stepped into the starting role. However, that does not mean Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels will call on him again in the same situation. The Raiders take on the Chicago Bears in Week 7. The Bears have been one of the easier matchups for quarterbacks this season despite holding Kirk Cousins to a pedestrian stat line in Week 6. It was a decent effort, but fantasy managers should turn to other options even if Hoyer is named the Raiders starting quarterback against the Bears.
