Brandon Staley Expected To Be 49ers Assistant Head Coach

The San Francisco 49ers plan to hire former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley for a prominent staff role, possibly as assistant head coach, according to sources. Staley, the former Los Angeles Rams' defensive coordinator in 2020, was fired by the Chargers midway through the 2023 season after two and a half seasons on the job. Not only is Staley expected to serve as a sounding board for head coach Kyle Shanahan, but he should also be heavily involved on the defensive side of things to assist new defensive coordinator Nick Sorensen, who is replacing Steve Wilks.
