Brandon Aiyuk A Borderline WR1 In Week 8
one year ago

As odd as it sounds, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk will attempt to reclaim his role as the team's No. 1 receiving target this Sunday when the Cincinnati Bengals come to the Bay Area. Last week against Minnesota with Deebo Samuel out with a shoulder injury, Aiyuk should have been a slam dunk for a heavy target share but was inexplicably out-targeted by role-playing wide receiver Jauan Jennings nine to six. Aiyuk finished with a mediocre five catches for 57 yards and no touchdowns. Samuel remains out this week against Cincinnati who ranks in the exact middle of the league in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers per game at 21.8 in standard scoring. Jennings' involvement at Aiyuk's expense was likely a fluke, as Jennings had never had more than seven targets in 38 career games. Consider Aiyuk a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2 depending on league size this week.
