Ben Johnson To Stay With Lions

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has informed the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders that he's staying in Detroit for 2024, according to sources. Johnson is still only 37 years old and will be a hot head-coaching candidate again next cycle. He is choosing to run it back with the Lions for another shot at the Lombardi trophy after Detroit fell just short against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship on Sunday. Johnson has been the team's offensive coordinator the last two seasons. The Lions finished third in total yards (6,712) and fifth in points scored (461) in 2023. Under Johnson, quarterback Jared Goff has had a career revival. Johnson has been with Detroit since 2019 when he was an offensive quality-control coach. His decision to stick around for another year is great news for all of the team's offensive skill players.
