Alexander Mattison A Low-End RB2 In Week 9
one year ago

Minnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison will look to have a bounce-back effort in Week 9 versus the Falcons after an inefficient game on the ground in Week 8. Mattison carried the ball 16 times for just 31 yards, as he could not produce in what looked like a good matchup versus a vulnerable Packers' run defense. It does not get any easier in Week 9, as the 25-year-old will go up against a Falcons run defense allowing just 3.8 yards per carry this season. After being out-touched by Cam Akers in Week 7, Mattison reverted back to the role fantasy managers were used to in the first half of the season, as the Boise State product led the Minnesota backfield out-touching Akers 17 to 10. It remains to be seen what the Minnesota offense will look like without Kirk Cousins (Achilles) under center, but there could be an opportunity for an increased workload for Mattison with an inexperienced signal-caller.
