Alex Van Pelt Out As Browns Offensive Coordinator
10 months ago

Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said he's been relieved of his duties. "On to the next one. Proud of my time there," Van Pelt said. The Browns also fired running backs coach Stump Mitchell and didn't renew the contract of tight ends coach T.C. McCartney. Browns spokesperson said earlier on Wednesday that Van Pelt "remains under contract and no final decisions yet." Van Pelt held the title of offensive coordinator since 2020 and was the quarterbacks coach for the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers before that. Despite starting five different quarterbacks this season, the Browns finished 11-6 during the regular season and made the playoffs with veteran Joe Flacco running the offense. It came to an abrupt end during the wild-card round, though, in a 45-14 loss to the Houston Texans.
